Raul Ortiz Hernandez, affectionately known as "Rollo," 74 of Coachella, CA, passed away on February 2, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on January 17, 1952, in Indio, California. On March 13, 1982, he married his wife, Olga Bocanegra, and built a beautiful life and legacy.

Rollo was a dedicated public servant, working as a meter reader for the Coachella Valley Water District for 32 years before retiring as the Chief Meter Reader in 2004. Beyond his professional career, his heart belonged to his community. For over 20 years, he served as a coach and mentor to local youth, eventually serving as the President of the Coachella Valley Youth Baseball & Softball Association. His leadership extended further as the Southeast Regional Director of PONY Baseball and Softball. Rollo was deeply devoted to the city of Coachella and the many lives he touched through sports. He was also an avid sports fan, often cheering for the local professional sports teams, San Diego Chargers (Never LA), Padres and the CV Firebirds.

He is survived by his loving wife, Olga B. , and his children: Raul E. (Laura) of Highland, CA; Andrea (Dylan) O'Leary of Evans, CO; Anthony (Summer) of Banning, CA; Adrianna Hernandez of Indio, CA; and Angelica (Kelly) Metress of Temple, TX. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Ismael & Mateo Hernandez; Alejandro & Giselle Mora; Andrew James Ortegon; Evelyn Romualda & Natalie Mae O'Leary. He was preceded in death by his mother Romualda Gradilla (Ortiz), his stepfather Eusebio Gradilla, his brother Francisco and his father Rosendo. In addition, he was recently reunited with five of his siblings in Mexico.
